Pool Inspection Wellington Pt

This week in Wellington Pt in the Redlands I inspected a pool that was quite straight forward. The client had reservations about it passing the pool laws but it did so quite comfortably.

It was a combination of aluminium pool fencing and timber fencing. The timber fencing was quite high and bordered the property but it didn’t quite reach 1800mm. This meant that the non-climbable zone was deemed to be on the outside of the pool barrier. Fortunately, in this instance the 2 bottom horizontal rails were 900mm apart, a requirement of the QDC MP 3.4 pool laws. The vertical palings were less than 10mm apart which is great because it provided some privacy from outside. Palings are allowed to be 100mm apart but not a millimetre more. I know that sounds harsh but that’s the laws. It’s rare to come across timber fences with a large gap but they do exist.

The aluminium pool fence verticals were less than 100mm apart and passed the squeeze test. This test although subjective in some aspects is likened to the strength used in a reasonable hand shake. To be on the safe side I tend to make it a strong hand shake. I feel it’s better to be safe than sorry. I’ve not come across one that was doubtful. The gap between the verticals immediately to the right or left of the ones you are squeezing must be no more than 105mm.

Wellington Point is a great little spot on the bayside. There’s good shop access and some lovely homes in the harbour. “Wellington Point” itself is a busy little place on weekends with families having BBQs and swimming and playing some ball games in the park. There’s a take-away and ice-creamery. Anyway, back to the inspection.

The one and only issue on this pool inspection was a cage of plumbing fittings over in the neighbour’s yard. This cage was in the “Additional Clear Area” arc of 1200mm down from the top of the fence and 900mm away from the fence. It was simply a case of asking the neighbour if the pool owner could move it. Most neighbours are agreeable in such circumstances.

If you live in Wellington Pt or surrounding suburbs like Ormiston or Birkdale I would be more than happy to do your pool inspection for you. I have competitive prices and I am available at short notice. See my Prices page. I also offer a range of advantages so I bring Value to the table.
