This particular pool fence inspection in Birkdale was a ripper. I do like the owners to be home as was the case here. There were a couple of pool safety non-compliant items that needed attention but the client was a chippy so he had all the necessary bits to fix them. I do carry an array of odds and sods such as nails, screws, washers, hammer, mallet, wire, wedge/fillet/tilt batten and CPR signs just to name a few.
The first issue was the position of the CPR sign. It was not in the pool area. The client repositioned that while I continued with the inspection. Then there was a section of fence attached to the gate that was moving sideways freely. This was causing the gate not to close consistently from a slight open position. One screw was all that was needed.
The next and final item was on the other side of the neighbouring fence. There was a retaining wall and above it the fence had 3 rails even though it was only 1200mm high. The two bottom ones were the offenders. They were too close together and easily climbable. The solution was simple, namely, place a fillet (also known as a tilt batten which has a 60 degree angle) on both the bottom and middle rails. Due to the ability of one to step out away from the retaining wall onto the middle rail the fillet had to extend 900mm past the edge of the retaining wall. Problem solved!
If you live in Birkdale or other surrounding suburbs of the Redlands like Wellington Point, Ormiston or Capalaba I would like to do your pool fence inspection. I am available at short notice and I am very competitive. You’ll be happy with the service I offer. And if there is something you can’t fix on your own I have a fellow who can do it for you.
